Homeowners who want to build a new deck, but are afraid of the annual costs and the labor of maintaining it, may want to consider one made of vinyl decking material. Cost can be a driving factor in choosing wood or vinyl, but the long-term benefits need to be considered.

Virgin vinyl decking material requires almost no maintenance except a good washing about once and month, depending on its use. Its surface grooves, while supplying a slip-resistant surface, can also become quickly filled with dust and dirt and will need periodic cleaning. Vinyl decking material is hollow and has a different sound and feel when being walked on, so there may be some noise associated with his material.
